# Play HT > AI text to speech with public voice selection and MP3 downloads. The multi-speaker text to speech editor lets signed-in users assign 2–4 speakers to up to 20 lines, generate each line separately, and play or download the complete dialogue as an MP3. The initial dialogue limit is 2,000 characters including expression tags, or 500 characters without an active subscription. Only new or edited lines require generation credits. Reordering lines, renaming speakers, replaying saved audio, and combining completed clips do not spend generation credits. Existing model access and per-character credit rates apply, with each generated line rounded separately. The speech and dialogue editors offer icon-labeled delivery controls for natural, curious, excited, sad, angry and whispered speech, plus laughter and sighs. Expression tags count as input characters; results vary by voice and should be reviewed. Below the homepage editor, the voice sample player lets visitors browse available prerecorded samples, filter by native language, gender and use case, search voices, and move through pages. Select a sample with the flowing orb or a voice row to listen; Use this voice applies that voice and its native language in the editor without generating speech. Samples are free, do not require an account, and do not use generation credits. Open Language below the editor to search by English name, native name, or language code and choose a language. Open Voice to browse the voice library. The library provides one prominent Clone voice action. My voices guides visitors who have no private voices to clone their first voice; visitors with existing private voices find the action below the list. Search by name, accent, or description; combine native-language, accent, gender, category, age, and available-sample filters. Category and age filters use available voice labels. Voice artwork helps distinguish entries and identifies the selected voice in the editor. Filter menus support search and keyboard selection; the native-language filter shows language badges. All voices includes every gender label; Other includes neutral and unspecified labels. Public-voice favorites are saved in the current browser, and My voices lists private voices available for the script language. Public voices can read other supported script languages, though accent and pronunciation may vary. Native language describes the voice catalog entry, not the full set of supported script languages. Changing script language resets the voice selection but does not translate the script. Selecting a voice applies it immediately and closes the library. Play the voice sample beside a voice to hear it before selecting or generating; samples use no Play HT credits or guest generations and may sound different from your chosen model and script. The editor defaults to the first supported language in the visitor’s browser preferences, falling back to English. Guests start with an editable sample script in that language and can press Generate to try it. The sample uses a typing animation until the visitor focuses the editor or starts generation; reduced-motion preferences show the full sample. Generation always uses the complete script. Basic, Pro, and Max each support the same 85 script languages, including English, Chinese, Cantonese, Thai, Bengali, Hebrew, Persian, Telugu, and Urdu. When no native public voice is listed for a supported language, the editor offers other public voices; accent and pronunciation may vary, and voice samples use their original language. Switching models keeps the selected language and script. Audio streams in compatible browsers; other browsers play the completed clip. The free allowance is three new generations per day per network address for guests, with a separate guest site capacity of 100,000 characters per day. Signed-in generation always uses credits and bypasses both guest limits. Both limits reset at 00:00 UTC. Replays and downloads of an existing clip do not consume another generation. Play HT at playht.app is an independent service; original Play.ht accounts, subscriptions, models, and credentials do not transfer here. Google sign-in is optional and opens the personal center. Signed-in visitors can open it again from the homepage avatar menu, change their display name, upload a PNG, JPEG or WebP avatar up to 2 MB, view their email and sign-in method, or sign out. The free voice preview remains available without signing in. Choose Basic, Pro, or Max in the Model menu below the editor. Basic is available without an account. Pro requires a signed-in Starter, Studio, or Enterprise subscription. Max requires Studio or Enterprise within its valid period. An account or credits alone do not unlock these models. Free users can enter up to 500 characters. Active subscribers can enter up to 10,000 characters on the models included in their plan. All signed-in requests use account credits and do not consume guest capacity. Signed-in users can choose a plan through Stripe Checkout when checkout is available; access starts after payment confirmation. Signup and daily check-in rewards may vary by registration country. Current rewards appear in the signed-in account. Gift credits, including daily check-in rewards, can be used with Basic only. Basic costs 1 credit per 100 characters, Pro costs 2, and Max costs 4, rounded up per generation. Failed incomplete clips refund credits; canceling a started generation uses credits. Replay and download are free. Voice cloning is available at https://playht.app/voice-cloning. Voice cloning requires an active Starter, Studio, or Enterprise subscription. Subscribers can upload or record an authorized sample to create a private voice. Failed attempts do not consume the creation allowance. Unsubscribed users see subscription plans when they click Create voice. On success, the same page selects the private voice in the text-to-speech editor for generation, replay, and MP3 download. Generated speech uses the selected model's standard credits; subscribers can generate up to 10,000 characters per generation. Personal voices also appear in the homepage Voice menu and in the My voices section of Account settings. This section lists saved voices and links to the Voice Cloning page to add a voice. Generating speech with saved cloned voices requires an active eligible trial or subscription, even when credits remain. When access ends, saved voices remain available to view or delete, and My voices offers Restore access to view subscription plans. Starter allows one active private voice and two creations per UTC month, Studio four and six, Enterprise twenty and twenty. Deleting a voice frees its slot but not its monthly creation. Only clone a voice you own or have permission to use. Samples are forwarded for voice creation and are not stored by Play HT. Voice cloning can support authorized video narration, lesson updates, podcast introductions, and product walkthroughs; results are synthetic approximations and should be reviewed before use. The voice cloning page also offers original-versus-clone audio comparisons in all eleven website languages. These examples use a fictional synthetic narrator and include transcripts and playback controls. Demo playback does not require signing in or spend Play HT credits; results with a user recording will vary. Eligible first-time customers can pay $9.90 for a 7-day trial with 500 credits, Basic, Pro and Max access, and one voice cloning creation. The trial automatically renews as Starter at $29/month, or $174/year if yearly billing is selected in Stripe Checkout, unless canceled through the billing portal before the trial ends. Trial credits are issued once after confirmed payment and do not expire; after access ends, remaining purchased trial credits work with Basic. The single trial voice creation allowance does not reset when a voice is deleted. Normal Starter credits begin after its renewal payment is confirmed. Plan prices are Starter $29/month with 1,500 monthly credits; Studio $99/month with 6,000; Enterprise $299/month with 30,000. Pricing defaults to yearly billing. Studio and Enterprise include commercial licensing and API access under the published API limits and applicable terms. Yearly prices are $174, $594, and $1,794 respectively, saving 50% compared with twelve monthly payments. Monthly checkouts offer the same plan with yearly billing through Stripe; credits are granted monthly and expire at each monthly boundary without rollover. Extra credit packs are 200 credits for $5, 700 for $15, and 2,500 for $49 for subscribers. Purchased credits do not expire; after a subscription ends they remain usable with Basic within the 500-character limit. Signed-in users can pay through Stripe Checkout and manage subscriptions through the Stripe billing portal when checkout is available. Changing plans starts a new subscription billed at the full selected plan price rather than a prorated difference. After confirmed payment, the old subscription stops renewing. Its remaining issued credits are kept permanently; future unissued credits from the old plan are not granted. Model access and private voice slots follow the new plan, without stacking slot counts. Viewing pricing or selecting a model does not activate a subscription. Signed-in users can open Generation history from the account menu to view it within Account settings, alongside their profile, saved voices, and credits. Generation history keeps their own scripts, voice settings, task results, and saved MP3 audio. They can replay or download a saved clip, copy a script, or open it in the editor without starting a new generation. See the privacy policy for how task data is processed and who may access it. Guest task records and saved audio are removed after seven days. Account task records remain until account deletion or a removal request through support. ## Earning gift credits Signed-in users can open Credits in Account settings to collect daily check-in rewards or submit a product suggestion for review. Following @playhtapp on X and subscribing to @PlayHTApp on YouTube each offer 20 gift credits after review. Users submit their social account handle or profile link. Each Play HT account can receive one reward per platform, and the same submitted social account cannot be rewarded again. Submitting evidence does not grant credits automatically. Gift credits can be used with Basic only. ## Random script drafts Signed-in users can open Random script beside Generate in the editor, choose a scene, add an optional topic, and request a short draft in the selected script language. The draft fills the existing text box and can be edited before generating audio. Script drafts do not spend Play HT voice credits; audio generation uses the normal credit rules. Draft requests are limited to five per minute and 50 per UTC day per account. Approximate duration is a writing target, not a playback guarantee. The privacy policy describes third-party text processing. ## Website languages The public website is available in English, Spanish, French, German, Hindi, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Turkish, Arabic, Persian, and Italian. The simple merger combines one video with one added audio file, supports volume, delay and loop controls, and exports MP4. Its inputs are limited to 200 MB and five minutes, and its selected files clear on refresh. The original FilmCraft editor provides a multitrack timeline and its own import, editing, and export controls. It saves recovery data in the browser. Neither mode uploads media for editing or adds a watermark. Browser and codec support affect compatibility; a current desktop browser is recommended. Play HT voice generation is separate and follows normal credit rules. The page and simple merger are localized in all eleven site languages. Review chapters, choose a public narrator or eligible private voice, and save a private audiobook project. - The audiobook maker offers three short, prerecorded narration samples in the page language with playback, seeking and a synchronized transcript. Listening to these samples uses no credits. The Little Prince sample is an original introduction; Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Pride and Prejudice English samples use original excerpts. These are previews, not complete audiobooks. - Audiobook generation requires an active Starter, Studio or Enterprise subscription, including an eligible active trial, and uses the existing Basic, Pro or Max access and credit rules. Credits alone do not unlock audiobook generation. Each section is charged separately. Failed generations return reserved credits; completed audio is reused when retrying unfinished work. - Download a complete MP3 or a ZIP of chapter MP3s after all sections finish.
